Living room must have a substantial floor before it can be decorated. When it decorate well, for many years, right flooring options will set the stage by good looks, comfort and durability.

Working with a trusted contractor has many benefits such as helping you narrow down your options. You should note that experts always said: Don't make a decision based on a small sample in a showroom.

Here are the advantages and disadvantages of living room flooring options.

Wood

In remodeling an older home, sometime good fortune smiles upon those brave enough to pull back a corner of a tattered old carpet: There might be pristine hardwoods underneath, which often can be stained, sanded, and sealed.

With so many choices in stain color, the floor and the room as a whole can feel completely polished, refreshed and updated with minimal expense. No shopping for expensive materials and outnumbered crew of workers. It will be satisfying to do so much with so little.

Carpeting

In bedrooms wall-to-wall carpeting is still a popular choice, but not in living rooms.

Our designing specialist, however, has a trick for taking advantage of the cozy feel that wall-to-wall carpeting provides: In addition to the rugs she likes to scatter about a space, she sometimes has carpeting cut and bound to the exact size needed for a room — it provides all the comfort of carpeting but can be easily removed and cleaned or swapped out.

Stone

We believe that "Stone has a strong, tailored feel that tends to work in public spaces,". Stone flooring is not only desirable for certain architectural styles (think grand Old World rooms or spacious modern expanses), it can be completely appropriate and elegant and, in some cases, relatively locally sourced.

With natural tones and unique characteristics formed eons ago under the surface of the earth, stone flooring not only can be a sophisticated, one-of-a-kind and very durable option. But also can be one of the more costly options.

Using natural stone, such as slate, marble, limestone or travertine, will require very careful installation. Depending on the type of used stone, Chipping, Cracking and staining can be some of the pitfalls if the area is not carefully prepped. Remember, stone flooring will be cool in warm climates and downright chilly in cold climates.
