Materials: gathered wood particles are subjected to high pressure to form sheets. These sheets also have a photorealistic image of wood or stone which is added to its top, and this image is completely covered with a wear layer. The wear layer, a thin, durable and clear plastic sheet, is the linchpin between the exterior elements and delicate lower layers such as UV rays, moisture, and scratching.

Installation process: it is installed as a floating floor. Boards connect to each other but they don’t connect to the subfloor.

Joinery: Fold and lock is a popular style of joining laminate flooring boards.

Subfloor and Underlayment: just like all floor coverings, laminate flooring requires a solid, good subfloor. Foam underlayment is between the laminate and subfloor, detaching the two surfaces and providing for a better and softer feeling. In some cases, when the subfloor is not enough, an intervening underlayment of thin plywood may be installed between.

Prices: relative to solid hardwood, engineered wood, and stone floor coverings, Laminate flooring is not expensive. In price, laminate is comparable to some ceramic or porcelain tiles and luxury vinyl flooring.

One advantage of laminate flooring is that it is surprisingly scratch-resistant and easy to clean. For this, laminate can be a great choice for people who have pets. The main disadvantage of laminate is that water can cause laminate to swell if it gets between the seams. Laminate can easily chip Being since it’s made of pressed board, especially the tongue and groove sections.

Vinyl flooring is pliable and contains only vinyl product, and is completely impervious to water. It does not need to acclimate to a room prior to install. Vinyl is the closest relative of laminate (non-laminate). It is easy to install, competitively priced, and has a similar look.

Hardwood is completely solid wood. Solid hardwood is thick and makes it possible to be sanded and re-sanded over and over again but Laminate is thin and it can never be sanded. laminate flooring and solid hardwood can look alike, especially from a distance.

Engineered wood has a plywood base topped with a coating of 100 percent real wood. Laminate has no plywood and no natural real wood veneer top.     Both laminate and engineered wood have a base that made of manufactured wood. Both can look notable similar, especially with the premium laminates.

Stone Laminate flooring does not contain stone product. Stone is solid, hard, and thick. Laminate is breakable, flexible, and thin.
